Where this sits
Polymarket funds an oracle and a dispute window. Kalshi funds an exchange licence and a compliance desk. Metaculus funds moderators who read the news and rule by hand. Same line item every time: a human deciding what happened.
Tie every question to a public endpoint and that cost disappears — along with the licence, because nothing of value changes hands. The trade is reach: we can only ask what the internet already answers in JSON. That bound is the business.
The open quadrant is not empty by accident. Machine resolution without money stayed unattractive because nobody answered “why come back?”. Reputation scoring is that answer, and it is what we build next.
Retention
PreviewIllustrative. Scoring needs accounts and stored picks — neither is built yet.
Unit economics
A market is a URL, a JSON path and a comparison. No oracle to fund, no settlement to clear, no counterparty to hold funds for, nothing to be licensed. Question count grows free; only traffic costs money, and traffic is cached.
It also means the product survives having no users. These markets resolve on schedule whether or not anyone is watching.
